The Wellest’s Line of USDA Certified Organic CBD Products is Here!

When we set out to create a premium and trustworthy CBD brand, we knew that would mean staying up-to-date in an ever-evolving industry on extraction techniques, information and education, and of course, reformulations.

From the point of inception, beginning on our kitchen table, our product development strategy has been to continue to refine and innovate and offer our absolute best to our customers.

Since then, we’ve introduced over a dozen new products, and we’ve reformulated and refined our existing formulas numerous times, to not only ensure products that meet the highest of quality standards, but also to ensure that we only offer products that actually work. Even though we haven’t been certified organic up until this point, we still source organic ingredients wherever possible: this includes organic carrier oils, organic beeswax, and organic essential oils.

But we have some especially exciting news. As of October 1, all of our tinctures and jarred salves are USDA Certified Organic!

The Road to Organic Certification

USDA Organic Hemp

When The Wellest was founded in October of 2019, growing hemp was not federally legal. Its growth was only permissible as part of government-approved pilot and research programs. And while many hemp farmers followed organic farming practices, certifications on domestically grown hemp crops were impossible to come by.

When the 2018 Farm Bill passed in December of 2019, legalizing hemp farming on a federal level, organic certifications on the agricultural side of hemp product production soon became accessible. Farmers began the long and arduous documentation and inspection processes.

Slowly, farms that had remained committed to organic practices for years leading up to the 2018 Farm Bill received the first hemp organic certifications by the USDA.

USDA Organic Broad Spectrum CBD

From the beginning, we actively sourced organic hemp whenever we could, but sourcing organic broad spectrum CBD extract just wasn’t possible. Certified organic full spectrum products hit the markets slowly, but broad spectrum certified organic products were nowhere to be found. There’s a reason for this.

In order for a product to gain organic certification by the USDA, every single part of its production process must be certified organic—from farming to distillation to winterization. Various methods of CBD extraction gained organic certification, but one step specific to the broad spectrum process lagged behind: the THC removal process.

Up until recently, there simply wasn’t a CBD manufacturer who had mastered a certified organic method of THC extraction. So while sourcing full spectrum CBD became easy, sourcing broad spectrum at a large enough scale to meet our customers’ demands became near impossible—until recently.

Gaining USDA Certification for Tinctures and Salves

We’ve partnered with the industry’s leading minds to craft some of the first USDA Certified Organic Broad Spectrum Tinctures and Salves. There is only one difference between this new formula and our old formula: it now contains the recently certified broad spectrum CBD extract.

While our existing tincture and salve formulas contain organic carrier oils, organic beeswax, and organic essential oils, this final ingredient has earned us the long-sought-after green USDA badge.

Our Commitment to You

Though this formula change has created additional costs on our end, our tincture prices will remain the same.

Why? Because our mission is to create the best quality CBD products made with the finest ingredients at accessible prices. We believe our customers deserve the absolute best and are honored to be invited along on the wellness journeys of so many individuals. Therefore, keeping our prices the same was a no-brainer.

Our commitment to consistently refining formula will also likely lead to additional The Wellest products gaining USDA organic certification in the near future.

FAQs

I Thought Your Products Were Already Organic?

Since the start of Joy Organics, we have sourced pesticide-free hemp and worked closely with organic farmers when selecting natural ingredients to add to our products.

Until recently, we didn’t have a supplier of USDA-certified broad spectrum organic CBD that could meet the demand of our customers. However, we have been actively sourcing organic hemp and have now procured enough to be officially certified organic.

All of our products have been tested and verified for purity by a third-party laboratory to ensure a lack of pesticides and microbial contaminants. Please refer to the lab results associated with your product for further information.

Does This Mean There Could Be Contaminants In Old Products?

Ever since the first The Wellest product was created, all items have been third-party lab tested for purity. We have never sold a product that contains heavy metals, pesticides, or other potential contaminants.

You can easily verify the lab reports for any product on its respective page or under the “Learn” header on our menu. Feel free to contact us seven days a week with any questions or concerns about our switch to organic products!

Will These Products Taste the Same?

The main flavoring agents in our tinctures are carrier oils and essential oils. We are still sourcing the same organic ingredients that give our products their distinct and delicious flavors.

Organic hemp has more naturally occurring terpenes. These aromatic chemicals can alter the flavor minimally. Therefore, our tinctures might have a slightly earthy undertone. You’ll taste the satisfaction of knowing that this product is exactly how nature intended it to be!
