CBD FAQs

Medical cannabis, also known as marijuana, is known for its intoxicating and euphoric effects. The main distinction is that medical cannabis contains higher levels of THC, the cannabinoid that causes the psychoactive effect. Medical cannabis has a very real possibility of creating an intoxicating sensation when consuming too much. CBD, on the other hand, is not intoxicating because of the low levels of THC produced by the Hemp plant. Therefore, CBD does not cause the feeling people refer to as “high” and can be used while performing daily physical activities.

The majority of people using CBD are for the following reasons:

  1. Promoting Tranquility
  2. Supporting a good night’s sleep
  3. Supporting muscle and joint function
  4. Promoting healthy skin
  5. Supporting internal balance
  6. Supporting a relaxed mood
  7. Supporting Focus

Broad-spectrum CBD contains a variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds. Each compound has a specific therapeutic effect on the human body. Terpenes can affect how the body responds to cannabinoids. As a result, the combined effect is often greater than the sum of the individual effects. The overall effect produced is known as the entourage effect. Products such as isolates, do not have the benefit of the entourage effect.

Marijuana and hemp are both strains of the cannabis plant. The marijuana plant contains high levels of THC, the compound responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis. Hemp also contains THC, but the levels are negligible so it does not cause a psychoactive high. Additionally, hemp is not categorized as a drug so long as the THC levels are below the .3% limit recently mandated by the Farm Bill Act of 2018. At The Wellest, we undergo an additional patented process that removes all levels of THC. All of our products are 100% THC free!

CBD is a molecular compound found in the extract of the cannabis plant. Hemp is a group of cannabis strains that are grown for fibers, food and health benefits. The Welleset CBD is extracted from a proprietary strain of hemp known as PCR hemp — or phytocannabinoid-rich hemp. This proprietary strain is far richer in CBD and other cannabinoids and terpenes than the basic hemp plant used by most CBD producers.  To learn more please check out our guide: What is the difference between CBD and THC?

Broad Spectrum CBD” refers to CBD that contains all the cannabinoids and terpenes naturally occurring in the hemp plant EXCEPT for THC. Broad-spectrum differs from Full spectrum in that Full Spectrum contains trace amounts of THC, versus Broad Spectrum which does not contain any THC. There are also CBD products made using CBD isolate, which is simply a single cannabinoid molecule that has been extracted from the hemp plant.

CBD oil is an oil that is produced from the cannabis plant or hemp plant. CBD oil is extracted from the plant’s leaves and flowers. CBD oil has become widely available commercially and is used by a diverse group of individuals all over the world for centuries. Many people find great benefit using CBD to support their health and wellness goals.

CBD tincture is a preparation of CBD in a carrier oil, which can be olive oil, hemp seed oil, or coconut oil to name a few. Tinctures are administered under the tongue (sublingually), held for at least 90 seconds, then swallowed. Since tinctures are used sublingually, CBD is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the capillaries located in the mouth. CBD tinctures are very fast-acting, and an effective method for taking CBD.

CBD is short for cannabidiol. CBD is one of many various molecules found in the Hemp plant. It is believed that CBD may help support overall health and wellness.

Terpenes are a classification of unstable hydrocarbon compounds. They are produced in the flower clusters cannabis plants. Terpenes are the compound that gives cannabis its distinct aroma. Terpenes have been used by humans for decades in the practice known as aromatherapy. Terpenes are also used in a variety of foods and cosmetic products.

Cannabinoids are the active compounds that are naturally produced by the cannabis plant. The vast majority of the health benefits of cannabis are attributed to cannabinoids. The cannabinoids that are found in plants are referred to as phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids have the potential to mimic neurotransmitters that are produced naturally in the human body called endocannabinoids.

CBD is usually well-tolerated in people. CBD is derived from the cannabis plant, and is generally non-habit forming. Since CBD is so new to the marketplace there is very little information regarding all possible interactions with other medication or side effects.  CBD oil products sold by The Wellest undergo rigorous testing by both our supplier and subsequently a third party independent lab. This is to guarantee that our products are free of THC, pesticides, heavy metals, fillers, and any other potential contaminants.

CBD interacts directly with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) already present in our bodies. Mammals, including both people and pets, have an ECS. This ECS has a number of receptors that help regulate important bodily functions like a neurotransmitter and hormone secretion, temperature, and metabolism, as well as controlling inflammation, to name only a few. CBD essentially benefits the body by acting as a natural booster to the functions that the ECS is performing.

Though many believe CBD to be the same as  hemp seed oil, they are very different. The production of CBD involves extracting the oil from the leaves and flowers of the hemp plant. The production of hemp seed oil involves pressing the plant’s seeds (a similar process to producing other seed oils like sesame or corn oil). Unlike CBD oil, hemp seed oil does not contain cannabinoids.  Hemp seed oil has been sold at health food and grocery stores for decades because it is rich in fatty acids, and is used for cooking.

To date, there is no record of anyone overdosing on CBD. However, with any new supplement it is always recommended to consult your healthcare specialist before starting.

At The Wellest, our CBD products are made with broad-spectrum oils which have had all traces of THC removed. Our products do not cause a high or create any negative psychoactive side effects.
